SNHU is a non-profit institution that has been around for over 85 years, and the online degree department is only adding convenience to the overall package deal. In addition to online classes and affordable tuition costs (more on that in a minute), SNHU has some good reasons why you’d want to enroll, including:
SNHU has a ton of resources and support channels to help its students succeed both in the academic world and once they’ve graduated. To begin with, you’ll get a dedicated academic advisor to help you throughout your academic career. This is helpful for practical advice, emotional support, and goal orientation.
Career advisors are available to help you explore internship opportunities for after you’ve completed your degree.
And since SNHU works closely with its 90,000+ alumni within corporate partnerships, a lot of SNHU graduates have found internship and employment opportunities straight out of school.
You can also transfer credits you’ve received from other learning institutions. Students can transfer up to 45 credits to be applied towards their associate degree and up to 90 credits towards a bachelor’s degree. SNHU also partners with several community colleges, making the credit transfer that much smoother.
At SNHU, there are more than 200 online degree programs to choose from. SNHU also has multiple term dates so you can apply almost any time during the year. There are five terms for the graduate program and six for undergraduate programs.
SNHU is known for being an affordable university. That might be because it hasn’t raised tuition rates in almost ten years. Yes, students at SNHU are paying the same cost of tuition as they did in 2012. That’s impressive.
SNHU also offers several financial aid packages and scholarships for qualifying students, including Pell Grants, FAFSA financial aid. Full or part-time US military service members and their spouses also receive a 30% discount on all online undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Community college alumni can get a 10% scholarship for online courses as well.
In terms of additional fees, SNHU is also reasonable. In fact, the school does not charge an application fee for undergraduate programs. You can also transfer up to 90 credits from previous schools or programs that you can use towards your associate, bachelor’s degree, or even your master’s degree.
One thing worth noting is the refund policy. Since courses are only eight weeks long, the refund policy is only available for two weeks. Two weeks doesn’t seem like a lot of time to test out a course and see whether or not you like it. However, when put into perspective, that’s a quarter of the term. So, it’s definitely a reasonable policy, but it is important to take note of.
SNHU boasts more than 200 online programs that cover the spectrum, including areas such as:
SNHU has online degrees for every level of education, including Associate Degrees, Bachelor’s Degrees (150+), Master’s Degrees (100+), and undergraduate and graduate certificate programs. Additionally, SNHU offers credit courses as well if you are looking for specific courses to fill out your degree or just to learn and expand your knowledge and experience.
SNHU has regional and programmatic accreditations. Regional accreditation comes from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), the regional accreditation agency that covers the New England states. Meanwhile, several of the SNHU undergraduate and graduate programs have programmatic accreditations from the applicable governing bodies, including the ACBSP, CAHIIM, CCNE, CACREP, ABET, CEPH, and CAEP. Degrees are all granted by the New Hampshire Department of Education.

“SNHU has such an amazing staff and all are an enormous help to incoming students as well as incredibly friendly and kind. I have been able to spend a large amount of my time with Dr. Matthews in the honors suite and he is always interested to hear what we are learning about and any struggles we might be facing. I think between him and his Graduate Assistant, Duncan Rae, the two of them were able to get me through academic struggles along with being a smiling face on the hard days.”
-Rebecca Drager, 2022
One of the biggest selling points for this university is its student support. We’ve already mentioned the dedicated counselors that you can reach out to for advice and support. Several students have reported how helpful these advisors were, along with the fact that counselors are easy to get in touch with and generous with their time. Additionally, SNHU has other helpful resources for students, including:
An online digital library for course material, research papers, and more.
If you’re having trouble with the course material or load, SNHU can arrange a tutor to bolster your learning.
This is particularly useful for online degrees since a technical glitch can disrupt your entire learning process.
This we also covered already, but it’s a fabulous resource for anyone who has completed their degree and is ready to jump into their new career.
Online degrees are not for everyone, but it does provide you with a more flexible, more convenient, and more affordable option than traditional universities. So if a digital degree sounds like a good idea to you, SNHU is one of your best bets. With the advantage and experience of an on-campus college, SNHU’s online programs deliver a high quality of education with all the benefits previously mentioned. The tuition is lower than most schools out there, and the university excels at helping its students through every step of their educational journey.
